Using this method is easy, direct and can get you great results when it is implemented properly. Why then, do some site owners have troubles and not see the expected results?   The answer is because they overlooked the rules that one must play by when using AdWords. Let’s look at the top AdWord Mistakes that one can make.  All you need to do is avoid making these mistakes and you will be well on your way to having a high traffic, successful website.</p>
<p>From the little guy with the one website to the nationwide company trying to summon up even more business, people are constantly misusing AdWords and then wondering what in the world went wrong.  When used correctly and when avoiding the most common mistakes, this can be an easy, direct, successful method to increasing your traffic and most importantly, targeting the type of traffic that you desire.</p>

<p>Let’s look at the top AdWord mistakes that website owners make and how to avoid these.  It is highly suggested to have your website setup correctly before you even begin using AdWords.  One of the biggest mistakes that a website owner makes is to design a website that they love, with their favorite colors, with unique and interesting navigation that they find to be innovative. What this does, is it creates a site that no one else “gets”.   While the creator may be looking at what he perceives to be a masterpiece, visitors like to know exactly what they are looking at. On average, a person takes between one and three seconds to decide if they are going to stay on a site.  Just getting traffic to your site is not enough, you want those people to stay long enough to find out what you are about and what you have to offer to them.    Your goal should be a simple, professional website that is engine-friendly (search engines have an easy time knowing what your site is about).  Reading the articles in the Google AdWords Learning Center will be of great help in this regard.</p>
<p><span id="more-386"></span>Now, let’s look at the top AdWord mistakes once you have your site ready and wish to use AdWords.  Mistake number one is not turning off the content network.  This option is set to “on” by default.  You may use this down the line, however never begin with this on.   When you manually set it to “off”,  you will then not show up on websites such as the New York Times, where you will get a ton of impressions, but hardly any serious clicks.</p>
<p>Another top Adword mistake is to choose too many keywords.  While it may seem like a great idea to list every possible word or phrase that someone could enter to find you, it works much better if you find a certain niche, without a lot of competition and stick with that. For example, millions of people may search for “garden” but you may find higher success with the small niche of “roses”.</p>
<p>It is also a good idea to keep an eye on your competition.  The Google Keyword Tool will allow you to see the keywords of other websites related to yours. A final tip for avoiding top AdWord mistakes is to be sure to put your keyword in the text of your advertisement.  It should be in the title and also the actual text.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Yahoo has appointed BlackBerry and former Orange executive Kristof Fahy to a top marketing role to revitalise the company&#8217;s brand across Europe. Fahy, who takes the newly created role of vice-president of marketing for Europe, will be responsible for overseeing all of Yahoo&#8217;s brand development, customer insight and communications in Europe.</p>
<p>He joins from Research in Motion, where he was brand marketing director for BlackBerry across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Previously he spent seven years with Orange, from 1999, holding various roles including director of global brand communications. Most recently at Orange, Fahy was head of brand, planning and advertising for the mobile operator&#8217;s UK business, before leaving in 2005.</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;We are excited to have someone of his calibre and experience joining the Yahoo team as we transform the company to being customer centric in everything we do,&#8221;</p></blockquote>
<p>said Toby Coppel, the Yahoo! Europe managing director.</p>
<p>Coppel, formerly the Yahoo chief strategy officer, has been keen to engineer a turnaround of the Yahoo operation and brand since being appointed to the European role in April. In a recent interview he said that poorly performing parts of the European business have until the end of the first quarter next year to improve or faced being closed down or sold.</p>
<p>The company wants to focus on services that users are interested in on a daily basis, such as news and sport, with other operations, such as price comparison service Kelkoo, under strategic review. Yahoo!&#8217;s share of the European search market is just over 3%, compared with around 18% in the US and 14% worldwide, according to ComScore.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>With <a href="http://www.stumbleupon.com/" target="_blank">StumbleUpon</a> recently acquired for somewhere between $60 and $75 million it has brought other similar sites into the spotlight as the search is on for the next Stumble.</p>
<p>StumbleUpon leverages a <del>stupid</del> plain simple approach to enable its users to discover new places and videos on the web. If you are not one to &#8220;stumble,&#8221; you might want to give &#8220;walking the web&#8221; a try with <a href="http://walk2web.com/" target="_blank">Walk2Web</a>.</p>

<p>Walk2Web, created by San Jose-based <a href="http://siteheart.com/" target="_blank">Siteheart</a>, uncovers new places on the web in a similar simple fashion to that of StumbleUpon but has its own gimmicky twist. Instead of stumbling, a user is presented a slide-show of random web site screen-shot thumbnails. Upon clicking on one of the site screen-shots a user is shown a visual representation of the related sites and a user can &#8220;walk&#8221; to other related sites. In addition a user can type in a direct URL to &#8220;walk&#8221; the web. Using Somewhat Frank as an example, I have captured a screen-shot (below) that shows how associated sites are presented.</p>

Affiliate programs are a great means of earning some handy cash; but not all affiliate programs are profitable. Some will only take up your time and energy and some others may even spoil your website reputation. This is why you got to carefully select your affiliate marketing programs and make sure that they work for you same as your work for them. Given below are a few points that will help you make better decision in choosing an affiliate program that works for you rather than working only for the affiliate merchant.</p>

So primarily get to know your visitors. Analyze your visitor behaviour using your website statistics before deciding on which affiliate program to go for. Your objective should be to find out what your visitors are looking for and then promote products of their interest which also match with your existing products or services (if any).</p>

<p>Most affiliates don’t give much importance to the affiliate merchant’s website, forgetting the fact that here’s where the actual sales conversion is to take place. <p>Some affiliate merchants promote more than one product/service on a webpage which can dilute the conversion rate. It is best to go for affiliate programs that focus on a single product/service per webpage.</p>

Check for testimonials and references from existing customers to find out about the quality of goods. If possible you can even plan on using them yourself to be on the safer side. In addition, also make sure to compare similar products available over the internet for features and rates.</p>
<p>There are many products that have trial periods or return policies associated with them. Products having return policies can increase the conversion rate but may also lead to debiting in case of a chargeback. Promoting products sold on a trial period basis requires cookie detection to track sales at the end of the period which is very unreliable. So it’s better to confirm with the affiliate merchant the tracking method used or the affiliate payment scheme, in case the products have trial periods.</p>

<p>The reputation of the affiliate merchant is important because the odds are against you. There are chances that some affiliate merchants may not payout or make deductions to your actual payments.
