To decipher the total PR value of your website, you simply add up the Page rank of each individual page. But the question is: How do you increase your Google Page rank?

Fortunately, for individuals who are unfamiliar with ways of increasing their page rank, there are several helpful SEO tips to increase Google page rank and make everyone happy. After all, a successful website is crucial. You must do all you can to ensure that your website is sufficient and successful.

While there are several ways of increasing your Google Page Rank, there are two SEO tips to increase Google Page Rank that are, perhaps the most important. First, acquire several and various links that point to different pages on your website. Secondly, simply add new pages to your website.

Among the various, useful and helpful SEO tips to increase Google Page Rank are to use titles for links, optimize your images, use highlighting in articles, use proper permalinks, and use images in your articles or posts.

One useful tip that is considered to be among the various SEO tips to increase Google Page Rank is to join forums. This is considered to be a particularly important step for all website owners. Doing so will not only gain traffic but also get links to your website as well.

Submitting your website to search engine directories is another great way of increasing Google Page Rank. This will make your website available to anyone searching for something that contains a word or phrase in your website. There are various search engines that are growing increasingly popular and would suffice for this task, such as Google, Yahoo, and DMOZ.

Creating and adding articles to your website is also extremely vital in the overall success of your site. The content in your website is the key in bringing in traffic. Make sure to add lots and lots of interesting articles to your website to enhance the possibility of increasing your Google Page Rank.

While there are several SEO tips to increase Google Page rank, one of the most significant is to use links from related websites. All you have to do is search for links that are related to the blog or article that you have posted. This will help to generate PR greatly. In addition, it is considered to be beneficial for you to update your blog or article every single day.

It is also highly recommended to use internal linking. This is a process which links any article or page to any other similar or related article. Gangling links can also prove to be a useful tip.

While there are various SEO tips to increase your Google Page Rank, you should make sure you have carefully read and understand them before attempting to benefit from their use. It is highly important for your PR to be high. Luckily, following a few simple steps is a sure way to do increase your PR.

When you have a website your goal will be to create a user friendly, professional site and just as important will be to optimize your site so that a lot of people find that site that you worked so hard on. It is very important to optimize your site for all search engines. While many webmasters only think about Google, one should keep in mind all of the top search engines. You will want to rank as highly as possible in the engines that people use the most. Therefore, let’s take a look at Top 10 SEO Tips for Google, Yahoo, and Bing to make your site as visible as possible and increase your traffic.

Google Search Homepage

While you are creating your website there are two ways of looking at your site and to have a successful website, you must look at both sides of the coin at the same time. You want visitors to enjoy visiting your website. You want them to find it informative and helpful. You probably want them to keep coming back. And depending on the type of site that you have you will want them to take some type of action. This action may be clicking on advertisements, signing up for your newsletter, or even buying directly from your site. The average person only takes between 1 and 3 seconds to decide if they are going to stay on a site or hit the back button. Therefore, one of your main goals must be to make your website inviting so that people will want to stay and see what your site is all about. Or at the very least, you will want them to stay long enough to take whatever action it is that you wish for.

Bing Search Homepage

On the other side of the coin, you must create a site so that people can find you. The most beautifully designed, most user friendly, most interesting site in the world will do you no good if no one can find you. If that site that you worked so hard on is hidden on page 50 of the search results, you won’t have a chance to impress those visitors.

Yahoo Search Homepage

So, how do you make a great site and do what you must so that it is easily found? The answer is in SEO. This is search engine optimization. Your goal will be to incorporate all of your great design ideas, and then make sure that the text on each of your pages is optimized properly so that people will find you when they search for you. This will be your keywords, the words that someone types into a search bar in order to find information. And you want them to find you. So, let’s look at the top 10 SEO Tips for Google, Yahoo, and Bing.

Tip One: Insert your keywords in the title tag of each page, so that the search engines clearly know what your page is about. Each page should have a different keyword/s.

Tip Two: Be sure that your keyword is one that the average person will search for. If your site is about flowers, you would not want your keywords to be “nature’s beauty on a stem”. Be direct.

Tip Three: Use those same keywords as a text link to another page in your site. This can be done somewhere in the body of the page.

Tip Four: Treat each page as if it were its own website. If each page is almost identical, the search engines will steer clear. It is best to take one subject and break it up into smaller sections, each being a page with its own keywords.

Tip Five: Do not then type those keywords all over the page. This is looked at as spamming. You should have your keywords several times on a page; however make sure that they fit in with your text. If you feel that you have to keep using those keywords, look for synonyms.

Tip Six: Stay away from link farms and do not pay for links. Look to exchange links with legitimate sites that are in the same category as your site.

Tip Seven: Never use a doorway; these are designed for robots and not for people. Search engines do not like them.

Tip Eight: Add title tags to your text links. This is similar to when you use an alt tag to show text for images when someone hovers their mouse over them.

Tip Nine: Use an alt tag for your images. Your site probably has a good amount of image and you don’t want these to go to waste.

Tip Ten: Submit your site to search engines yourself or allow it to be found by having links to your site on other legitimate sites…

Use these top 10 SEO Tips for Google, Yahoo, and Bing and you can’t go wrong.

Each and every day there are internet technology developers that are looking to find new ways to tie existing internet merchants together with people that may have a need for their products. Right now, internet advertising is a multi-billion dollar business, and the companies that can find new ways to drive traffic to retail websites are the ones that are cashing in on the rising success of the internet. Pixazza is one such technology innovator, and with companies like Google backing them up it looks like Pixazza just may be the newest way to advertise and make a lot of money on the internet.

Pixazza Ads

Imagine that you are looking at a candid picture of your favorite celebrity as they are out on the town, and they are dressed in some very elegant clothes. Now imagine that you wish you could find out where they got their clothing, and how you may be able to get some of that clothing for yourself. Maybe you are just curious as to the cost of the clothing, or you may even just be wondering where they could have possibly shopped to get the garments they are wearing. Would it not be convenient and great to be able to run your mouse over that picture and see all of the purchasing information you need to know about that clothing, and then have the option of going to that retail site and making a purchase? With the technology being developed by Pixazza you will be able to do just that, and make your celebrity clothing dreams come true.

Pixazza How it Works

Right now the technology only applies to clothes, but if it catches on with the public then development could begin on making this sort of technology available on most of the images you see in internet photos. The project is being funded by Google through their investment company called Google Ventures, and it is an example of how Google is attempting to expand the influence of the internet into more areas of people’s lives.

As with any new technology, the Pixazza experiment has its good points and its bad points. The good points are that any picture could instantly become a celebrity commercial endorsing clothing and other products without needing the consent of the celebrity. People can take any image on the internet and apply this technology to it to offer a catalog of the products being seen in the image. It sounds like it could be a bonanza to internet retailers, and an excellent way to generate even more advertising revenue for internet webmasters. But the downside is something that still needs to be worked out before the technology can become a success.

Pixazza Jennifer Aniston Photo

Right now a user is alerted to the existence of a Pixazza link on an image with a small yellow price tag icon. The user runs their mouse over the icon, and the information on the product appears. The problem here is the annoying presence of several yellow tag icons in one image. The solution could be to post the image twice, but then that borders on the image becoming a commercial.

Pixazza Screenshot

The other problem is associating celebrities with products that they are not paid to endorse. Celebrities protect their images very vigorously, and to use that image without permission to promote a product could run into legal problems.

These reasons are why Pixazza is still under development, but with the help of Google the developers at Pixazza are hoping to get their product working just right and make it available to the public.

In a blog, Google talks about expanded local search results:

We like to make search as easy as we can, so we’ve just finished the worldwide rollout of local search results on a map, which will now appear even when you don’t type in a location. When you search on Google, we will guess where you are and show results near you. How do we guess your location? In most cases, we match your IP address to a broad geographical location. You can also specify your likely location using the “Change location” link on the top right corner, above the map. We try to make our guesses as good as they can be so that whether you’re shopping for [groceries], [sporting goods] or [flowers], or looking for your [bank], your [gym], or the [post office], you can just say what you want, and we’ll try to find it right where you are. You can also search for specific stores or street addresses near you, like [cornelia st cafe] in New York, for example.

Matt Cutts Said:

If a page started to have more than that many links, there was a chance that the page would be so long that Google would truncate the page and wouldn’t index the entire page. These days, Google will index more than 100K of a page, but there’s still a good reason to recommend keeping to under a hundred links or so: the user experience. If you’re showing well over 100 links per page, you could be overwhelming your users and giving them a bad experience. A page might look good to you until you put on your “user hat” and see what it looks like to a new visitor. But in some cases, it might make sense to have more than a hundred links. Does Google automatically consider a page spam if your page has over 100 links? No, not at all. The “100 links” recommendation is in the “Design and content” guidelines section, and it’s the Quality guidelines that contain the things that we consider web spam (stuff like hidden text, doorway pages, installing malware, etc.). Can pages with over 100 links be spammy? Sure, especially if those links are hidden or keyword-stuffed. But pages with lots of links are not automatically considered spammy by Google.

OpenID is a single sign-in infrastructure that potentially alleviates the need to create new passwords and user names for every new site one joins or visits. There’s been lots of discussion about OpenID and who’s in, who’s almost in, and so on. Today, Yahoo formally joined (and fully legitimized) the effort. Microsoft Passport was originally conceived to be a similar system but failed to gain support and broad adoption. While it’s a great convenience for end users and intended to “open up” the process of signing in to sites, the strange paradox of OpenID is that it potentially reinforces a relationship between a user and his/her open ID “home.” That is, the master login that a person uses: AOL screenname, WordPress login, or, now, Yahoo login.

As Yahoo explains: When you are on a web site that supports OpenID login, simply look for a Yahoo! login button. Or if you see a text box with an OpenID icon, simply type in “yahoo.com”. You will be sent to Yahoo! to verify your Yahoo! ID and password, and then you will be able to continue on.

OpenID Logo

OpenID is thematically related to another, broader issue: data portability. The latter is very much like the idea of a unified login/password system except that it applies to data much more broadly. In theory, “data portability” would allow interoperability among various participating sites. However, the issues surrounding data portability are much more complex than OpenID. At the heart of the debate over data portability are questions of who “owns” or controls data and user privacy.

Yahoo’s 248 million registered users globally now become part of the system. Google, LinkedIn, and Facebook have all been associated with discussions to support OpenID, though have not formally announced that support. Now, with Yahoo’s participation secured, it should just be a matter of time before other big names join (AOL and Plaxo are also currently on the list of supporting companies.)

Previous chapters have covered how the growth of Google and fears of how it was reshaping the communication landscape led to the application of existing anti-trust laws along with new ones to force a Google breakup in 2010. This chapter looks at the immediate aftermath: the “Baby Googles” or “Googlets” that were formed in the name of greater competition and consumer choice.

The Google brand name remained with the company’s first product, search. Virtually all search-related products were kept part of Google, including enterprise search. Google continued to operate the Google search engine, which itself remains by far the most popular search engine in the United States and in most countries around the world.

What didn’t stay with Google? As covered more in chapter 3, the Search Engine Reform Act of 2009 (SERA) had a fundamental principle that companies with business models around being guides to the web – regardless of the technology or human effort involved to create those guides – were forbidden from also owning content that might be listed in those guides.

“If I buy a restaurant guide, I don’t expect the publisher of the guide to also own or make money off of some of the restaurants in the guide,”

said one US senator during debate over the act.

Away went products like Google Knol, as well as Google’s ability to offer an ad brokerage service like AdSense to publishers. Google could still sell ads – indeed, the AdWords program remains the chief source of revenue for Google. However, those ads are restricted to Google’s own search results pages or the search results pages of affiliate partners.

Critics pointed out that it wasn’t illegal under US law for these conflicts to occur in other areas. Movie studios were free to own magazines that might cover their movies, for example. Nor could anyone show solid evidence that Google had allowed the inherent conflicts to become real ones. But the argument of search deserving special regulatory protection won out.

Google was allowed some exceptions to the “no content” rule. Community maps were deemed “search-like,” so Google’s Wikipedia-like social mapping effort could continue. Google News, where pages of “content” are built in an automated fashion, were still deemed to be search-like because of their “discovery” nature and thus were allowed. Local reviews of merchants were also allowed. Hosting of video content through YouTube? That was not deemed a search activity, so YouTube was spun off.

As coming chapters will explain, the changes were not limited to Google. Microsoft and Yahoo both found the act required them to divest and divide up various business units. Ironically, one of the chief backers of the reform act – the newspaper publishing industry – got a rude awakening when they found it applied to them. Plans for a pan-newspaper portal to rival Google News came to a halt when it was deemed in a lawsuit that the portal would violate SERA because, as a search engine, it was listing newspapers that it also would have an interest in favoring.

Understanding that gray areas would come up, the reform act also established the Search Commerce Commission. Among its many duties is serving as an arbiter of whether a search engine has slipped too much into the content-hosting space.

Many sites have seen a big drop in PageRank. Some even from 9 to 6. Hours later, many others have reported on this. Most of the sites mentioned above have a lot of interlinking going on between them.

Philipp Lenssen says that, “Interestingly enough, the last time I checked, Google’s own AdWords still allowed text link brokers to advertise their systems not sure if that’s still the case.”

Come to think of it, Google Webmaster Help Center’s guidelines lays down the rules straight and clear:

“Don’t participate in link schemes designed to increase your site’s ranking or PageRank. In particular, avoid links to web spammers or “bad neighborhoods” on the web, as your own ranking may be affected adversely by those links.”

Duncan Riley, feels that

“The only clear change appears to be among large scale blog networks and similar link farms, where each site in the network provides hundreds of outgoing links on each page of the blog to other blogs in the network, in some cases creating tens, even hundred of thousands of cross links. Previously such behavior has been rewarded by Google with high page rank, although it would now appear that this loop hole may now be shut”.

Blogs in the TechCrunch network (we don’t link heavily on each page… nor do we have a particularly large network) and the Gawker Media network (who like us don’t go nuts with links) maintained their page rank whilst blogs across a range of other networks saw big decreases. The AOL owned Weblogs Inc was not immune, with leading Gadget blog Engadget dropping from PR 7 to PR5, Autoblog (6 to 4) and DownloadSquad (5 to 4)
